Watch what your Politicians Say

So I was just reading this article on Politico.com, and noticed that both the Republicans and the Democrats were saying the same thing while saying they weren’t.
The article, is about how the president thinks he does not have to listen to the Republicans, because he won.  On that point I say that Obama is correct, because there is not a good chance that the Republicans could stop the Democrats from passing any bill that they wanted.

My point, however is that in the last half of the article it shows the petty bickering between the the two parties.  The argument between the parties is that the Republicans, going by a Congressional Budget Office report, are saying that money from the stimulus plan of the Democrats will not reach the economy until 2010, which is 11.3 months away.  The Democrats on the other hand, led by Henry Reid, say that it is misleading and per their numbers the majority of the money will be in the economy with in 18 months.

Since the 18 months that Reid is talking about ends in June of 2010, it would seem that it could be exactly the same numbers as the numbers that the Republicans are using.  This seems to be showing that both are saying the same thing, but they want to argue about it, especially the Democrats, because I doubt they want it known that they really won’t be doing anything to help the economy.

Given this example, and all the examples shown when the Republicans had control, it would seem best to listen to the party out of power in debates like this.

Don’t you love politics?  I sure do.
