The whining FBI director

When Apple announced that iOS 8 would encrypt the devices data, and they would not keep the decryption key on file I was happy that my data will remain my data. It is important to be able to secure personal and business data for many legal reasons.

Of course, the FBI director, James Comey, thinks that secure phones are bad for the public, because it can deny justice.

I’m sorry Comey, but the point that it denies justice is pure horse shit. If you take his argument further, it would make sense to track the entire population, and record all their actions and conversations.  Because we all know that by not doing so we might deny justice, and we can’t have that, now can we?

There are many things that would make the authorities job easier, but it is not Apple’s or Google’s job to make it so. It is nobody’s job to do so, unless they want to sell equipment or other services straight to law enforcement.  It is however a companies job to make their customers feel secure with their products. At least as much as possible in this world where every company has been hacked.
