Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

The administration has been on a campaign to stop all this talk of Obama being a socialist.  He even said that he wants government to have a “light touch”

Does he have a clue what a light touch is?

Taking over GM, Chrysler, and Bank of America, to name a few, does not seem like a “light touch”.  It is actually very heavy handed, and now he wants to further regulate financial institutions , protect small investors from major losses, and create a heavily regulated health care system.

Guess what , that is nowhere near a “light touch”.  If you check a thesaurus, these policies would an antonym to a “light touch”.

No matter how he try’s to blame Bush II for having bad policies that are making him do what he is doing, it still shows that he thinks that government needs to be in control of the situation.  It shows that he has no faith in the current system, and believes a large government bureaucracy can do it better than a large corporate bureaucracy.

Not having faith in the current system is understandable, but to replace it with the same type of structure just doesn’t make sense.  Health care is an example of this.  Health care is already regulated by the insurance companies, with do’s and don’ts that cause problems in dispensing health care.  It also raises the costs of health care, just for the basic reason that there are that many more people needed to work in the insurance/health care field.

Given cases like this, and the fact that there are very few things that the government does well there is practically zero chance of Obama fixing the issues with more bureaucracy.  And more bureaucracy is the furthest thing from a “light touch”.

So before you believe the awe inspiring wizard, you should check for the man behind the curtain, because he is the one you have to worry about.  He may even turn out to be a socialist.
