Voting machines must meet two requirements. They must count the vote accurately, and people must believe they count the vote accurately. The second requirement is distinct from and just as important as the first.

Likewise with newspapers. We must be accurate, and we must be believed to be accurate. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but we are failing on the second requirement. Most people believe the media is biased.

a former Biden-Harris official suggested that it was simply shitty governance that did them in.

“It’s very clear we got it wrong on economic policy. People feel squeezed and when they do, they pick change. Our policy position and execution wasn’t palpable to voters.”

Another cited a range of frustrations: “The party was lied to about our candidate, and the leadership who lied were the same ones who never bothered to actually listen to voters and understand what was appealing to them about Trump — or why the Biden economy wasn’t working for them even if it looked good on paper.”

Musa al-Gharbi’s  We Have Never Been Woke.

Those that work with their minds, and not with their hands, are the ones that cause “Awokenings,” because the new and upcoming went through an upheaval that caused them to lose out on their aspirations.  The Great Depression caused the first, the loss of college exemption from the draft in the 60s caused the next, they third was the turn down in the late 80s into the 90s, and then the last has been caused by too many going to school, too many highly educated people, and not enough jobs to go around.

Those that are on the unrealized goals side tend to align themselves with other marginalized minorities, and will stress those social ills as a way to advance themselves.

Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect

“Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray’s case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the “wet streets cause rain” stories. Paper’s full of them.

In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.”
– Michael Crichton (1942-2008)

I’d point out it does not operate in other arenas of life. In ordinary life, if somebody consistently exaggerates or lies to you, you soon discount everything they say. In court, there is the legal doctrine of falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus, which means untruthful in one part, untruthful in all. But when it comes to the media, we believe against evidence that it is probably worth our time to read other parts of the paper. When, in fact, it almost certainly isn’t. The only possible explanation for our behavior is amnesia.

The main disagreement centers over Barnier’s attempts to rein in France’s soaring budget deficit. After France spent billions during the pandemic, Barnier wants to cut 40 billion euros ($42 billion) in spending and raise taxes by 20 billion euros.

France’s deficit is currently projected to hit 6.1% of GDP, far higher than than the European Union requirement of 3% or lower. The looming economic and political crises has spooked markets, with French borrowing costs briefly rising above those of Greece on Monday.

She suggested trying ‘dolphin-style’ to overcome the challenges of low gravity.

‘Dolphins are kind of in a neutral buoyancy environment,’ Dr. Pandya explained on Scientific American’s Science Quickly podcast. ‘When two dolphins are trying to mate, a third dolphin comes in, takes one for the team, and holds a partner in place so the two dolphins can successfully mate.’

Other experts in the field have also proposed Velcro suits to keep couples from drifting apart or even a specially designed suit that fits two people.

Dr Pandya said there is good reason for researchers to get serious about testing some of these strategies and investigating others.

Tiktok Supreme Court decision

The D. C. Circuit consolidated and denied the petitions,

holding that the Act does not violate petitioners’ First

Amendment rights. 122 F. 4th 930, 940, 948–965 (CADC

2024). After first concluding that the Act was subject to

heightened scrutiny under the First Amendment, the court

assumed without deciding that strict, rather than interme-

diate, scrutiny applied. Id., at 948–952. The court held that

the Act satisfied that standard, finding that the Govern-

ment’s national security justifications—countering China’s

data collection and covert content manipulation efforts—

were compelling, and that the Act was narrowly tailored to

further those interests. Id., at 952–965.

[It is]an effective ban on a

social media platform with 170 million U. S. users certainly

burdens those users’ expressive activity in a non-trivial

While we find that differential treatment was justified

here, however, we emphasize the inherent narrowness of

our holding. Data collection and analysis is a common prac-

tice in this digital age. But TikTok’s scale and susceptibil-

swaths of sensitive data the platform collects, justify differ-

PROMOTING BEAUTIFUL FEDERAL CIVIC ARCHITECTURE

Big Beautiful Buildings.  He wants people to be proud of our governmental buildings, that’s how i read it.

RESTORING THE DEATH PENALTY AND PROTECTING PUBLIC SAFETY

on December 23, 2024, President Biden commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 most vile and sadistic rapists, child molesters, and murderers on Federal death row:  remorseless criminals who brutalized young children, strangled and drowned their victims, and hunted strangers for sport.

This directs DOJ to pursue reversal of anti-execution court decisions up to and including Supreme Court decisions.

PROTECTING THE MEANING AND VALUE OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP

not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.

United States citizenship does not automatically extend to persons born in the United States:  (1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or (2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.

REALIGNING THE UNITED STATES REFUGEE ADMISSIONS PROGRAM

This is aiming to allow local and state officials to have a say in where refugees are placed.  I think as a way to spread them out, and not let them have control over certain towns, like Springfield, OH.

UNLEASHING AMERICAN ENERGY

Stops the EV car mandate, and possibly stop subsidies on them, “promote true consumer choice”, become the top producers of rare-earth elements.  Let us buy the lightbulbs, dishwashers, washing machines, gas stoves, water heaters, toilets, and shower heads that we want to.

AMERICA FIRST TRADE POLICY

MEMORANDUM TO RESOLVE THE BACKLOG OF SECURITY
CLEARANCES FOR EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
PERSONNEL

This lets his political appointments get top secret/ sensitive compartmented information security clearance, while they wait for the backlog leftover from Biden.

DECLARING A NATIONAL EMERGENCY AT THE SOUTHERN BORDER OF THE UNITED STATES

Just more of the same above, but the National Emergency allows for more actions, like that of the military being used.

HOLDING FORMER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE
FOR ELECTION INTERFERENCE AND IMPROPER DISCLOSURE
OF SENSITIVE GOVERNMENTAL INFORMATION

Strips 50 people of their security clearances, which hits them hard in the pocket book.  Some big names, James Clapper, Leon Panetta, John Brennan, and John Bolton.

This is done, you could say, in retaliation for them lying about the Hunter Biden laptop in 2020, which many said swayed that election.

RESTORING ACCOUNTABILITY TO POLICY-INFLUENCING
POSITIONS WITHIN THE FEDERAL WORKFORCE

Allows positions that affected policy to be fired if they don’t follow the presidents wishes

Employees in or applicants for Schedule Policy/Career positions are not required to personally or politically support the current President or the policies of the current administration. They are required to faithfully implement administration policies to the best of their ability, consistent with their constitutional oath and the vesting of executive authority solely in the President.  Failure to do so is grounds for dismissal.”
