As I was reading my daily allotment of news, I ran into a story that said that global warming will make people cheat more. While the survey wasn’t very scientific, it made me want to know what else climate change was blamed for, beyond more storms, hotter temperatures, famine, drought, and all the normal things that is. In just a quick search I found that climate change will cause the following (some seem scientifically worthy, and some just don’t):
More crime, in general
Some of the above have been corrected, like the melted street lamps, which were due to a fire, but after some reading it is hard to take anything serious. It seems by these stories, along with the normal climate change stories, that climate change will affect everything, even how you use the toilet.
In the near future we will have an app that will tell you exactly how climate change will affect you, just like those apps that predict when you will die. It will tell you when you will get pregnant, when you will get that promotion at work you are waiting for, and when you will get a divorce, because of that new administrative assistant that came with your promotion.
With this post I’m not trying to be a skeptic or a believer. I’m just trying to point out that when trying to argue that climate change is happening rapidly, it is important to keep things in perspective. As we all presume now, home runs increased due to steroid usage, and not climate change.
Once the argument is made that there is a single cause for everything bad in the world, as is the current argument, it starts to look like a Salem witch hunt.
