History is repeated

On the Drudge Report there is a headline that states USA Moves Left, EU Goes Right.  To many this seem odd, and unprecedented, because the US has always leaned more to the right, and Europe more to the left.  This, however, is not unprecedented, for the same happened during the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

The 1930’s saw a rise of right-winged groups throughout the world.  Most of Europe during that period moved right, like Germany, Spain and Italy.  Places in the Americas also tended to go towards the right, just at Argentina did.  The leaders of these states were Hitler, Franco, Mussolini and Peron, who are all know around the world for being the fathers fascism.

The US on the other hand went left, by bringing out social programs and work programs that were meant to help the economy.  President Roosevelt over saw the beginnings of the socialist trend in the US, by starting Social Security and many job work programs.

The same is happening today, with the EU trending more to the right in the most recent election.  There is also a large swell of nationalism in Russia, Poland and Germany, just to name a few, which is the same thing that happened in the 1930’s.

The reasons for the rise in nationalism are different now, but when times are hard people tend to look inwards.

The US is also becoming more nationalistic, with the buy American law that has been enacted.  The only difference is what the government is will to do to try and get the economy going.  The US seems to always thinking that spending will get us out of bad economies, while Europe generally views extra spending to be counter productive when the economy is down.

Now, which one is correct?

I side with Europe, on this one, which isn’t all that surprising I admit.  There is no way that going into massive debt can solve this crisis that was caused by going into debt.  The government seems to think that the bad economy is being caused by a constriction of the credit industry, which in a way it is.

The failure in their thinking is that they think that credit should be free.  This has been the American ideal for the last 20 or so years.  When did it become normal to pay for things with credit?  When did it become okay to live beyond your means?

Those are the fundamental questions that need to be answered, and addressed.  Credit should not be easy to get, because it enables those who can not afford credit to get credit.  Whether it is a simple credit card, mortgage, or business loan, only those who can afford it should get it.  This means more than a simple credit score, this means that a person should have to get in touch with a financial advisor or something and have them certify that they can afford to have the credit, especially a large amount of credit.

Okay, I seem to be spouting a lot here.  Enough of that.  I won’t even finish my thought, because…even I am getting bored with myself.

So, how ‘bout them Chiefs?  Yup, they suck.  As normal.  Or should I now say, how ‘bout them Redskins?  Yup, they don’t suck as bad as the Chiefs.  As normal.  lol

Well, now I’m just typing for the sake of typing.  So, I will bid you ado.

Ado.
