Going for a walk is both good for your health, but it is also a chance for your mind to unwind.
Today I went for a walk, and I think I will continue that trend, because I am getting bored sitting around the house. It sucks waiting.
Anyways, while I was walking I walked by this nice little playground that had no kids playing. I thought this was weird, because it was a bright sunshiny day. When I was a kid I would have been out and enjoying the weather, like I was going for a walk.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am in my early 30’s which at one point was deemed the “Nintendo Generation.” My generation was the beginning of the gaming industry, and I am proud to be part of it.
That aside though, I spent most of my time outside, both in the winter and in the summer. Don’t get me wrong, I did my share of playing video games, ever since the Commodore 64. But I was outside more than I was ever inside.
Children today need to spend more time outside, and while it is easy to blame the kids “who don’t know the good things in life.” I believe the blame lies with the parents.
To illustrate this, as I was walking by the playground, which had the metal slides that would burn you if you went careful, and a merry-go-round, I noticed that to yards that were adjacent to the playground had playground equipment in their own yard. This shows that parents are causing the problems, for they are afraid that something might happen to their kids. Stop paying attention to the news that depicts the world as dangerous, because it is actually safer than when you were young.
Kids are supposed to get bumps and bruises. They are supposed to play with other children on a playground, or hell, just outside. Most of the time they are just sitting in the house playing a video game, or some other non-sense. Children need to get scabbed knees, not carpal tunnel.
