As many of these blogs show, I don’t really agree with many of the decisions that Obama makes. This is not the case in regards to Iran. I know that many are attacking him, saying that we should support this “freedom” movement, and it is our duty to support all democracy movements.
This is the worst thing that the US could do. It would only alienate many people in Iran, and they would still be hostile to the US, for nothing shows that a new president would make Iran less aggressive.
Obama has weaved the pride and concerns of a democracy with the concerns of letting Iran come to it’s own decisions. Whatever occurs it is most important for the US to stay out of Iranians business.
Yes, the US does have a history butting in and trying to get its way. This is a failed policy, because it leads to more problems than it solves. Every nation wants to be in control of their own destiny, they don’t want outsiders to decide how they should live.
Therefore, Obama should keep on this path in his foreign policy. Not all of his foreign policies are as good, but this is a well thought out policy.
