Today, I’ve been sitting around watching the stock market fall over 200 points, and I’ve been enjoying it. I know, I shouldn’t want it to go down, but I do.
Let me explain. I believe that the stock market and the housing market were over priced, before the economy tanked. I think it was a horrible thing for them to be over priced, and not just slightly over priced, but extremely over priced.
Since it was so over priced, we need to have a major correction, and while many seem to think that it has already happened, apparently it wasn’t good enough. We, as a society, still want to get right back to where we were. We think we deserve to have everything that we had. Well, sad to say, we did not deserve it, because the prices were inflated only on hype, nothing more.
Many people in the world seem to think it was the greed of the bankers and the brokers, but this misses the mark. The inflated market, and the inflated housing prices were caused by everyone. The people are the ones to blame. How many shows, on HGTV and the like, were all about making a profit on the house, just by sitting on it and making small improvements. I’m sorry but that is not what a house is for. It is not a monetary investment, and should not be treated like it. A house is an investment in your own future. Having a house gives you and your family security, knowing that you will always have a home. (Except for the unexpected disasters.)
Hence the greed of everyone has caused this problem. Yes, I am blaming the person who lost their house. Yes, I am blaming those that lost “half” their money disappear in the stock market. Yes, I am blaming you. Now is not the time to worry about blame, now is the time to center on bettering yourself, and your situation.
No matter what, we are all to blame. Apparently we have not yet learned that if it seems to good to be true, it is too good to be true.
