Unanimous Supreme Court

It’s not often that the Supreme Court rules unanimously, but it is great to see them doing so on such an important topic as warrantless searches of smartphones by cops. We now have the protection that law enforcement can not search our smartphones without a warrant.  The decision is a quick read, linked above, if you care to read.

A big thank you to all the justices, it’s great to see that at least part of our government has some common sense.

Before this decision, I was prepared to remove my Touch ID login if I was pulled over, just in case. Why you may ask? Because one federal judge had said that to break a pass code the cops would need a warrant, but they didn’t need one if it was a finger print. Kind of messed up.

Now even with an unlocked phone the law needs to have a warrant. This gives me a peace of mind, even though I’m a law abiding citizen.  And that is priceless.
